College Club of Boston

this morning i had the pleasure of feeling the wonder of travel without going too far from my home. i met with one of my charming knitwear connections on his pass through the usa at the college club of boston.   it is one of the loveliest places to stay in town (www.thecollegeclubofboston.com) . recently renovated, it embodies the perfect combination of historic, brahmin, bostonian, je ne sais quoi with the casual comfort of a b and b, situated in ever so wonderful back bay….this is the staircase and gorgeous william morris wallcovering. what a backdrop!
” The College Club of Boston: A rich past, a dynamic present… One chilly day in December 1890, nineteen women met in Boston’s Back Bay.  Their mission?  To form a club where college-educated women could “enjoy sociability and companionship” while advancing their knowledge of literature, public affairs, history and the arts.” from the college club website.
while i met with an engaging scot, ( is there any other kind) we encountered a friendly woman from brazil visiting her son in boston accompanied by his girlfriend from pakistan… do you get the picture? a small world of chance encounters.  i love to travel and sometimes i love to stay home and have bits of the world come to me.
