Maple Glen, Red Lion Inn- Stockbridge, Massachusetts

Have you been to the storied Red Lion Inn of Stockbridge, Massachusetts lately?  If not, I suggest a stay at their newest suite of cottages, Maple Glen-an updated New England style property with well appointed, comfortable rooms, spacious baths, a lovely common living room and kitchen, all attractively decorated with Berkshire based, design powerhouses, Annie Selke’s Dash & Albert rugs and Country Curtains bed coverlets.

I enjoyed my most recent visit there just last week while the Berkshires are in full swing with so many cultural performance options available such as TanglewoodJacob’s Pillow Dance, Barrington Stage Company, Berkshire Theatre Group, Norman Rockwell Museum and The Mahaiwe as well as great outdoorsy offerings such as Monument Mountain, Berkshire Botanical Garden, Edith Wharton’s The Mount or Chesterwood to name a few.

The Berkshires is one of my favorite destinations within a two hour drive of Boston.  Perfect for quick weekend getaway to an area rich in natural beauty with a laid back pace and many fantastic restaurants, I always check Rural Intelligence, a great online source for the best in the area’s happenings  to plan my weekend.

Enjoy a cocktail and a good book on the Red Lion Inn porch or take a dip in their beautiful, bluestone terraced, heated pool. Be sure to visit Great Barrington’s Rubiner’s Cheesemongers for a tasting and book a brunch at Haven Cafe and Bakery in Lenox.  So many great choices, so many visits to go.
