Kennebunk and Wells, Maine

A short trip this summer to Kennebunk and Wells, Maine yielded such a potent mix of beautiful seaside vistas, salt marsh farm views, gardening shops and some very interesting art.

I truly enjoyed puttering around at the Wells Reserve at Laudholm, a National Estuarine Research Reserve with its headquarters listed on the National Register of Historic Places.   What a spectacular spot!

I was graciously invited to an opening reception at Corey Daniels Gallery in Wells, a fantastic, renovated antique colonial home and barn with an equally interesting collection of contemporary art and vintage finds.  Seems to be the go-to spot for rare found objects and curiosities.

And lest I forget, Snug Harbor Farm in Kennebunk is the be all end all of gardening destinations and my whole reason for wandering up that way.  Read about my visit with Frances Palmer, yes, the potter phenom of her namesake pottery at Snug Harbor Farm.
