on a wintery saturday morning, it is a treat to sip a perfect coffee at one of my favorite boston bistros, the south end buttery, (www.southendbuttery.com).  i enjoy the place, the people, the food, the drink, everything about it makes me feel good. great interior finishes-classic, but not too, simple but not plain.

yesterday lunchtime….dear friends and a cookie swap. i should have taken photos of the amazing cookies that my talented epicurean buddies cooked up before i inhaled a good part of them, but instead i was just so taken by the fabulous deep dish apple pie that was served for dessert on classic spode christmas plates.

a weekday lunch at a friend’s house is just about the best treat of the week. one of my dear friends is a fantastic cook and a gracious host. she served this apple cake today and it was so beautiful that i just had to take a picture of it. i am still savoring it and the precious time spent with dear friends in the middle of a work day.
