cows and sheep

i have a thing for cows & sheep…so on my business trips to scotland i always take some time to find some to observe and photograph. sheep are everywhere particularly in the highlands or even just a few miles outside of the center of edinburgh.
highland cattle, like this one, are found further out and have a tendency to “own the road” at any particular time when they are moving to another pasture.
it is quite a sight to be noodling along a single track road and come to a complete stop as you round a corner and literally thread the car through a herd. they are slow to move, but gentle as they do so.
i came nose to nose with this one day in early October a few years ago. i put him as a greeter in my online shop. a friendly face, don’t you think?
