Driving in the Highlands
I really love to drive, especially in another country off the beaten path on single track roads, and even more so when the car is on the left side of the road. The whole driving experience feels so much more dynamic than my day-to-day errand running drives about town. I have always driven a manual transmission and prefer a sporty handling vehicle. So renting a car in many other parts of the world isn’t quite as daunting as going from a luxury automatic transmission to a 4 cylinder stick shift.
As I was noodling around the Scottish Highlands I met this handsome boy as I rounded a curve in the middle of nowhere. Needless to say, I came to a sudden stop and deliberated what to do. Always eager for a good photo, I hopped out and approached. He practically posed for me. Then his friends and family came along with the farmer and they continued on their way.
I felt the same sort of special and poignant pause as I do when I encounter a deer when walking in the woods.
